Industrial Relations Commission - Further COVID-19 update
The NSW Industrial Relations Commission has today provided a further COVID-19 update.
Given the extension of the stay at home orders across Greater Sydney, and as the City of Parramatta is an LGA of concern, all Commission matters will continue to be conducted by videoconference or teleconference until at least 27 August 2021.
Where a matter is listed for arbitration on or before 27 August 2021 the Commission expects parties to confer as to whether the matter is suitable to be heard on the papers, is suitable for video/teleconference, or should be deferred until a later date and to notify the Industrial Registrar of their preference. Any decision as to whether an arbitration will be conducted by VCR or on the papers in this period or deferred until a later date will be made by the Presiding Member of the Commission. The Presiding Member may determine to adjourn a listing to a later date, regardless of the parties’ preferences.
The Commission has also extended the period during which email filing of materials, subject to the requirements and limits set out in the Update published on 14 July 2021, will be accepted, until 5pm on 27 August 2021.
Due to the volume of emails currently being received for email filing, the manual process connected with processing manually filed material, and the changes to the arrangements for staff, the Commission may be unable to provide an immediate response to email correspondence. A Registry staff member will respond to emails as soon as possible.
A party wishing to notify an urgent industrial dispute or to make an urgent enquiry should contact the Commission on 8688 3516. The Commission will list all genuinely urgent matters as soon as possible. To assist with obtaining an urgent listing, parties are encouraged to notify disputes as early as possible, and where a party identifies a dispute as urgent, then sufficient reasons should be given to support the stated urgency.
