Statement of Commitment

On 23 October 2025, the Bar Council adopted the New South Wales Bar Association Statement of Commitment to Reconciliation with NSW First Nations and First Nations People.

The Statement of Commitment reflects the Bar Association's ongoing efforts towards achieving equality for First Nations people and its key actions in support of real and lasting reconciliation.

The Statement of Commitment was developed by the Bar Association's First Nations Committee and endorsed by its Human Rights Committee. It took effect from the date of its adoption by the Bar Council and will expire in 5 years’ time on 23 October 2030.
