An important new tort for Australia: serious invasion of privacy.
Reforms to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) will take effect on 10 June 2025 bringing a substantial and far-reaching change to Australian law. Individuals will now have the right to sue, in certain circumstances, if they suffer a serious invasion of their privacy. Join Dauid Sibtain SC and Nicholas Olson of Level 22 Chambers for a discussion of this novel tort, what it protects, the exemptions and defences available, and the remedies for breach. The seminar will be introduced by Matthew Richardson SC, Co-Chair of the Media, Information Law and Technology Committee.
Please note: Only NSW barristers or members of the NSW Bar Association can register for CPD’s or webinars.
