Appearing on behalf of an Independent Children’s Lawyer: Part 2 – Appearing for an Independent Children’s Lawyer.

Please join speakers Angela Petrie, Wardell Chambers, Mary Rebehy, Lachlan Macquarie and Karen Shea, Frederick Jordan Chambers.

Moderated by John Longworth, Frederick Jordan Chambers.

Various systemic factors mean briefs to appear on behalf of an Independent Children’s Lawyer (ICL) are being offered to junior counsel and readers, notwithstanding the increasing complexity of such matters. Briefs to appear for the ICL can be challenging to seasoned counsel, let alone to a new advocate who may not have exposure to the work of an ICL.

This is the second of a 2-part presentation in an attempt to ‘bridge a gap’ and assist junior counsel to understand the important role of the ICL, and gain valuable insights on how to be an effective advocate when appearing for the ICL. This second session focuses on the role of the advocate appearing for an ICL with input from experienced counsel.
