Introduction to arbitration – Part 1: the mechanics of an arbitration
The International Committee and the New Barristers Committee are organising an exciting new two-part CPD series on arbitration, targeted at under 6s but all are welcome to attend.
Both sessions will be held in the Bar Association’s Common Room. Session 1 will be held on Wednesday, 22 November 2023 at 5:00pm. Session 2 will be held on 29 November 2023 at 5:00pm. Both sessions will have a practical focus.
Our guest speakers will be Mark Dempsey SC of 7th Floor, Tim Boyle of Eleven Wentworth, Anna Garsia of 12 Wentworth, and Katie Sutton of Banco Chambers who will cover topics such as the circumstances in which an arbitration may arise, the trajectory of an arbitration, the role of arbitral institutions and the law applicable to the different facets of an arbitration.
Session 2 will cover topics such as advocacy in an arbitration and the role of courts.
