Sybil Morrison Lecture 14 August 2024

The Diversity and Equality Committee is pleased to invite you to the 2024 Sybil Morrison Lecture. The Lecture will be held on 14 August 2024 in the Bar Association Common Room, with arrivals from 5:15pm for a 5:30pm start.

The Sybil Morrison Lecture is an initiative of the Bar Association’s Diversity and Equality Committee to celebrate the achievements of women who have joined the Bar. The inaugural Lecture, held in 2019, focussed on the life of Sybil Morrison, the first woman to practise at the New South Wales Bar.

The 2024 Lecture will honour Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC and focus on Her Excellency’s distinguished legal career, particularly her leadership roles in the judiciary and her contribution as a role model for women in law. This year’s Lecture will be chaired by the Honourable Virginia Bell AC, and presented by the 2023 recipients of the Katrina Dawson Award, Rachel Thampapillai and Lucy Geddes.

Attendees will be invited to remain in the Common Room for light refreshments after the Lecture
