The Bar Association’s Mental Health First Aid Course in practice

Please join Vanessa Whittaker SC of the Wellbeing Committee, and Bruce Hodgkinson AM SC and Penny Thew of the IEHS Committee, on 9 October 2024 as they discuss the Bar Association’s Mental Health First Aid Course in practice. The CPD will be chaired by Stuart Lawrance SC of the Wellbeing Committee.

In December 2023, the Bar Association introduced the MHFA Course available to all barristers and chambers. The aim of the course is to enhance and promote the wellbeing of barristers and chambers by equipping those who participate in the course with the skills to listen, connect and support colleagues who could benefit from empathy, understanding and connection. All barristers are encouraged to participate in the course and to attend the CPD.

This CPD will examine the benefits of the course, including how it can dovetail with obligations of barristers and chambers under the SafeWork NSW Psychological Health and Safety Strategy 2024-2026 launched on 22 May 2024, as well as the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth) and anti-discrimination legislation.

Please note: Only NSW barristers or members of the NSW Bar Association can register for CPD’s or webinars.
