The Importance of Sleep

Monday, 7 March 2022

On Monday, 7 March 2022  the Wellbeing Committee will host the next instalment in its Eat, Sleep, Move series of webinars,  to be presented by Dr Camilla Hoyos. The webinar will provide an overview of what happens when we sleep and how sleep plays a vital role in how we function, as well as how sleep may change as we age. Dr Hoyos will also cover some ways to optimise the quality of our sleep.
Dr Camilla Hoyos is a Research Leader in the Centre for Sleep and Chronobiology at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research and a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Psychology at the University of Sydney. Dr Hoyos is passionate about generating new knowledge on how sleep disorders, insufficient sleep and poorly timed sleep impact on health. Her work is determining whether reversing sleep problems with various therapies leads to reduced risk and impact of diabetes, heart disease and dementia. Her research program includes exploring the effect of a variety of interventions (including both pharmacological and non-pharmacological) for sleep to improve health outcomes.
