Understanding gender diversity
The Bar Association’s Diversity and Equality Committee is pleased to invite you to attend a CPD seminar on Understanding Gender Diversity to launch the LGBTQIA+ Language and Pronouns Guide for the NSW Bar. The purpose of the Guide is to provide user-friendly, practical guidance for barristers concerning appropriate language when engaging with LGBTQIA+ colleagues, clients and others engaging with the legal system.
The panel will include:
- Dr Anna Cody – Australia’s Human Rights Commission Sex Discrimination Commissioner
- Justice Richard Weinstein – Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales
- Justice Rachel Pepper – Justice of the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales
- Judge Warwick Hunt – Judge of the District Court of New South Wales
The seminar will be chaired by Mark Seymour SC, the Bar Association’s LGBTQIA+ Advocate for Change.
Our guest speakers will outline the guide and discuss its application inside and outside the Court room.
Following the event, we invite you to join us for drinks at Fix Wine Bar from 6.15pm.
