Moot judging – volunteers sought

The Bar Association is seeking to compile a list of names of barristers interested in judging law student moots. In February and March, the Bar ran a successful pilot program where we provided 14 judging panels of 2 barristers – generally one senior and one junior –for the UNSW Senior Moots Round 1. This provides a great opportunity to improve your own advocacy skills, sitting as a judge, as well as provide advocacy training for future practitioners. The feedback from the students and the barristers involved has been very positive.

Generally the time commitment will be limited to one evening per competition for about 2 hours, if you are available. The next UNSW moots, Round 2, start on 22 June and will be run though an online moot platform.

If you are interested in joining the Bar’s list of moot judges, please send an email to mooting@nswbar.asn.au expressing your interest and any past involvement as a student, moot judge or mooting coach, so we can contact you further about opportunities as they arise, including UNSW Round 2. No experience in judging is required.
