2020 Professional Standards Scheme commences today

The fourth New South Wales Bar Association Professional Standards Scheme commenced today, 1 July 2020 and will remain in effect until 30 June 2025.

The scheme assists the Bar Association to uphold the standards of local barristers through an ongoing Professional Standards Improvement Program (PSIP) and risk management that is aligned to international standards. The scheme also limits the civil liability of members with an approved professional indemnity insurance policy to $1.5m. Practising members have a statutory requirement to disclose limited liability in all formal correspondence. You can learn more about the scheme here.
