Jury Amendment (Additional Jurors) Regulation 2020 (NSW)

The Jury Amendment (Additional Jurors) Regulation 2020 has been published in the Government Gazette and commenced today.

The Regulation prescribes a trial of criminal proceedings the duration of which is likely to be 4 or more weeks as a trial of proceedings in which the Supreme Court or the District Court may order that up to 3 additional jurors be selected for the jury.

As announced by the Attorney General earlier this week, the amendment to the Jury Regulation is necessary to address potential increases in juror absences during the COVID-19 pandemic.
