Vale Susanne Elizabeth Schreiner (1939-2020)

Susanne Elizabeth Schreiner was admitted to the New South Wales Bar in 1962 as the 10th woman to be admitted. Sue was the first female barrister to appear in the Supreme Court of the ACT.
Sue remained at the NSW Bar until 1975 when she was appointed as a Magistrate. Sue was second woman appointed as a Magistrate and presided over most Courts in NSW, both metropolitan and country. Sue remained at the Court until 2000 when she retired. She continued as an Acting Magistrate for a further 5 years.
A private funeral will be held next Tuesday 8 September. Sue's family are planning a memorial service at a later date, details of which will be provided to members once they are available.
