Protocol for Dealing with Complaints of Judicial Conduct

16/10/2020

The Supreme Court of NSW and the New South Wales Bar Association have agreed a Protocol for dealing with complaints of judicial conduct. The Protocol is designed to provide barristers with an alternative mechanism to raising complaints under the Judicial Officers Act 1986. The Protocol is not intended to be exhaustive of the mechanisms that barristers may wish to take, but is intended to provide a means by which barristers can be supported and assisted in making formal and informal complaints about judicial conduct. The Protocol can be found here.

The Bar Association very much thanks the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of NSW, the Hon T F Bathurst AC for supporting the creation of the Protocol and its adoption by the Supreme Court.
