Joint Media Release: Dire Federal Circuit Court backlogs prove family court merger a risk to families, judges

The Law Council of Australia, Women’s Legal Services Australia, Community Legal Centres Australia and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services have today issued a joint statement stating that the Federal Government's bill to collapse the specialist Family Court into the generalist Federal Circuit Court (FCC) must not proceed, amid revelations the FCC is facing severe backlogs of more than a year’s worth of migration and family law cases.
