On Tuesday, 17 November 2020, the NSW Bar Association is delighted to host the Hon T F Bathurst AC, Chief Justice of New South Wales, the Hon Justice A S Bell, President of the Court of Appeal and Mr J T Gleeson SC, Banco Chambers, for a seminar on advanced legal writing.

Our speakers will provide perspectives from the Bench and from the Bar on:

• The techniques of advanced legal writing.

• Preparation.

• What judges find most helpful from submissions in writing.

• Particular considerations in writing submissions for appeal courts and for first instance courts.

• The characteristics of the most effective written submissions.

• The role of written submissions in presenting oral argument.

This seminar will be of most assistance to senior juniors and Silks, although all members of the Bar will find benefit from attending.

Members are invited to attend in person at Banco Court or remotely via live stream. Attendance will be run by registration only with in-person tickets strictly limited. In-person places will be allocated on a first-in best-dressed basis. Those wishing to attend virtually via AVL are also required to register.
