Sophie Callan SC was sworn-in as a Judge Advocate and Defence Force Magistrate on Friday 12 February by the Judge Advocate General, Rear Admiral the Hon Justice Michael Slattery AM RAN. In attendance were Captain James Renwick CSC SC RAN, Commander Greg Sirtes SC RAN, Squadron Leader Arthur Moses SC and Squadron Leader Paul Monaghan representing both the RAN and RAAF. Her family attended the ceremony.

By these appointments she joins a distinguished group of former members of the NSW Bar including Glass JA, Cole JA, Tobias JA and Cowdroy J.
