The Bar Association has been advised that the email account of one of its members was compromised and a number of emails sent out purporting to be from this member’s address. These emails are fraudulent, commonly known as phishing scams, and are not to be trusted.
There are two relevant emails which are being distributed. One is purporting to be from Mr Meltz’s regular email address danielmeltz@12thfloor.com.au and is designed to make the recipient download a document from a website but crafted to look like an Office365 - One drive document.
The other address from which the emails are being sent is "daniel meltz 12thfloorau danielmeltz12thfl@hotmail.com" , please note that this is NOT Mr Meltz's email address but a purpose-created hotmail address to be used once contact has been made with the scammer.
Please DO NOT click on any links provided in the email if received and delete it from your inbox. It would also be best to not respond to the email. We are informed that Mr Meltz’s regular email address has now been secured.
If you no longer wish to receive In Brief, please notify the Bar Association's
