The New South Wales Attorney General is seeking applications from senior lawyers for the role of Director of Public Prosecutions for a non-renewable fixed term of up to ten years.

The Director of Public Prosecutions is responsible for the independent conduct of criminal prosecutions in NSW. The Director manages the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to ensure provision of an effective, efficient, independent and publicly accountable criminal prosecution service. The Director also provides legal advice to the police and other criminal justice agencies and interacts extensively with other members of the legal profession, the media and community consultative groups.

Applicants must be Australian lawyers of at least seven years’ standing and should possess substantial legal experience and demonstrated working knowledge of criminal law. Naturally, with accountability for all activities within the Office, demonstrated management experience at a senior level will also be essential.
