The Hon Peter Heerey AM QC died peacefully on the evening of 1 May 2021, with his wife Sally and sons Ed, Charlie and Tom by his side.

Peter Heerey was a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia from 1990 to 2009. He also served as President of the Defence Force Discipline Appeal Tribunal and as Deputy President of the Australian Competition Tribunal. On his retirement from the Court, Peter served as Chair of the Australian Electoral Commission, Chair of the Advisory Board for the Graduate Program in Intellectual Property at the University of Melbourne, and Adjunct Professor at the University of Tasmania. Peter loved the law and proudly lived a life of service to the legal profession.

A service will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday 14 May 2021 at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Melbourne.
