Bar FC victorious against the Reserve Bank FC

02/06/2021

Bar FC had a close match on Wednesday 2 June in the Domain Soccer League against the Reserve Bank FC. Bar FC were hungry for a win and the chance to progress to 6th place on the competition ladder.

Di Michiel opened the scoring for Bar FC only three minutes into the game, with a great shot from in front. Two minutes later Morrison has a shot at goal and narrowly misses. At the eight minute mark the Reserve Bank FC scores, to make it 1-1. Coutinho, Rizk, Clarke and Allen in the midfield combine well and then halt further forays by Reserve Bank FC into Bar FC territory for the rest of the first half.

Reserve Bank FC come out strong in the second half and score early on, taking the result to 2-1 in their favour. When the going gets tough, Bar FC gets going. Coutinho takes the ball right up to alongside the Reserve Bank GC’s goal post, and does a great flat pass to Di Michiel, who shoots the ball into the back of the nets. Di Michiel then provides an impassioned long submission to the referee as to how he could not possibly be considered to be off side, and the submission is successful. The goal is awarded, Di Michiel’s second for the day, to bring the score even at 2-2. Determined defence in the hands of Griscti, Wilson, McCarthy, Woods and Connolly, holds Reserve Bank GC out from scoring again.

The game continues and Hartford Davis takes a great penalty goal shot, which narrowly misses. Time is starting to run out, and it looks like Bar FC will have to settle for a draw, when Di Michiel slams a great goal past the keeper, for his hat-trick, and seals Bar FC’s victory with a final score of 3-2.
