Investor-State dispute settlement in the Asia-Pacific

16/09/2025

Tuesday, 14 October – In person, 9.30-11.00am

This is the first of two seminars hosted by the NSW Bar Association as part of ACICA's Australian Arbitration Week. Join a panel of some of Oceania’s most experienced practitioners in international investment law and arbitration to discuss the latest developments in and challenges for investor-state disputes in the Asia-Pacific region. As well as discussing key recent cases and developments arising from our region (including the ongoing $300 billion claim by Clive Palmer’s Singapore-incorporated company against Australia), panelists will explore the emerging trends in investor-state disputes and the implications of recent global events (including the ICJ decision on the obligations of states in respect of climate change) for this thriving area of international law.

The panel will feature Lucy Martinez (Martinez Arbitration), Dr Chester Brown SC (7 Wentworth Selborne), Christina Trahanas (Omnia Chambers), Dr Callista Harris (7 Wentworth Selborne), Dr Anna Kirk (Bankside Chambers) and Kyle Dickson-Smith (Office of International Law).
