Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Regulation 2025

The Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Regulation 2025 (the regulation) came into effect on 1 September 2025. The regulation can be accessed here.

The regulation’s "explanatory note" states that "The object of this regulation is to remake, with some changes, the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Regulation 2015, which is repealed on 1 September 2025."

The NSW Department of Communities and Justice has advised the Association that:

"…the policy intent of the new Regulation is to remake the 2015 Regulation in substantially the same form. However, please note that a number of changes have been made to the Regulation, including to align with current drafting practices and to ensure alignment between the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2014 and the Regulation."
