Child witness pre-record training (criminal)

The District Court of NSW, in collaboration with the NSW Bar Association, Law Society of NSW and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, is offering three fully-funded training sessions aimed at improving advocacy in pre-recorded evidence hearings for child witnesses. The training will be delivered by two District Court judges as well as a very experienced English judge, her Honour Judge Patricia Lees, the Honorary Recorder of Guildford Crown Court (UK). The training will be held on:

Newcastle: Saturday, 25 October 2025. Register here.

Sydney: Saturday, 1 November 2025 (training fully booked). After training drinks - For those who have registered for the training, please consider also purchasing a ticket here for the after-training drinks and canapes function. Places are filling up. It will be a great opportunity to mingle with the trainers, including her Honour Judge Lees, Judges Traill and Brady SC as well as your colleagues from the course. In recognition of their funding contributions, both the President of the Bar Association, Mr Toomey SC and the Director of Public Prosecutions, Ms Dowling SC, are also expected to attend.
