Effects of alcohol on mental wellbeing

16/09/2025

Tuesday, 07 October 2025 – In person, 5-6pm

In this CPD session, Linda Scott, Chair of the Alcohol and Drug Foundation (ADF), will speak about the significant but often underestimated impact of alcohol on mental health. With deep expertise in public health advocacy, Linda will explore how alcohol use contributes to anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and impaired cognitive function—factors particularly relevant for clients experiencing high stress, trauma or ongoing legal issues.

The session will equip legal professionals with up-to-date research and practical insights to better understand the complex relationship between alcohol and mental health. It will also provide guidance on recognising warning signs in clients and discussing these issues with empathy and discretion. This presentation is designed to promote healthier, more informed approaches to wellbeing across the profession.
