17/09/2025

Bisexual+ Awareness Week takes place each year from 16-23 September, concluding on Celebrate Bisexuality+ Day (23 September). This week seeks to accelerate the acceptance of the bi+ (bisexual, pansexual, fluid, no label, queer, etc.) community.

The Bar Association is committed to supporting and celebrating its diverse Bar. The Association’s LGBTQIA+ Principles on Inclusiveness have been developed for the benefit of members and their Chambers/Floors. The Association has also published Practical Tips for being an LGBTQIA+ Ally. For further information and resources on inclusiveness for LGBTQIA+ people, see the Association’s Supporting LGBTQIA+ Inclusivity webpage.

‘Bisexual’ refers to an individual who is sexually and/or romantically attracted to people of the same gender and people of another gender. Bisexuality is represented by the flag (shown in the image) with pink at the top representing homosexuality, blue at the base representing heterosexuality, and purple between the two, being a blend of the two colours which represents bisexuality.
