Bar Book Club
27/10/2025
The Bar Book Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month.
November’s book is "Is a River Alive?” by Robert Macfarlane. It is a non-fiction book that The Guardian describes as an “impassioned book [that] shows the way” to save rivers as living beings. It can be expected to be beautifully and lyrically written, given the author.
Details: Tuesday, 4 November 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the conference room at Martin Place Chambers (Level 32, 52 Martin Place, Sydney).
Light refreshments will be provided.
If you’d like to get a head start on December’s book, we will be reading “What We Can Know” by Ian McEwan. The novel is set a century into the future and looks back at today through the point of view of a scholar in search of a lost poem. The Guardian describes it as a novel depicting "a picture of our times … that quietly compels us to consider the moral consequences of global catastrophe".
No need to RSVP, but contact Michelle Painter SC or Janet McKelvey for any further details.
