Australian Legal Convention 2025
13/11/2025
The Australian Legal Convention 2025 will be held at the High Court of Australia in Canberra from 20 to 22 November.
The purpose of the convention is to bring together a cross-section of bodies and institutions within the Australian legal system to provide a national framework for engaging in dialogue to identify and explore responses to current and emerging issues.
The dialogue will be structured by reference to seven broad themes: Legitimacy, Artificial Intelligence, Family and Sexual Violence, Institutional Well-being, First Nations Justice, Access to Justice and Legal Education. Most themes will be introduced in plenary sessions before dividing into streams to facilitate discussions on identified topics.
Noting the High Court building's capacity limitations, in-person attendance places are now full. To facilitate access for those who cannot attend in person, a livestream is being provided free of charge, thanks to sponsorship from the Victorian Legal Services Board.
The livestream link can be found here: The Australian Legal Convention November 2025 | Sidestage
The link will be live on 21-22 November 2025, and will cover plenary addresses in Court 1, as well as workshops in Courts 1, 2 and 3 at the scheduled times. Users can access each courtroom via the relevant button on the homepage, as well as a link to the Guide, which includes scheduling information.
