The Hon TEF Hughes AO KC passed away today on 28 November 2024.

He was a former President and true leader of the New South Wales Bar. He made a singular contribution to the administration of justice at state and federal levels, including serving as Commonwealth Attorney-General, and was a celebrated advocate and cross-examiner. He has, and will continue to have, an enduring influence on the practice of law in this state and nation.

He was called to the Bar in 1949, took silk in 1962 and was President of the Bar Association from 1973-1975. He was appointed a life member of the Bar in 1996.
