University Chambers is seeking the services of a senior clerk to perform the role of Acting Clerk during a period of long service leave to be taken by University Chambers’ Clerk in April to June 2025.
It is proposed that the successful applicant will be employed as Assistant Clerk starting from about March 2025 whereafter he or she will assume the role of acting Clerk from mid-April 2025. Subject to negotiation, the successful applicant may be invited to continue employment as Assistant Clerk after the return of the Clerk in mid-June 2025.
The Acting Clerk will be responsible for the overall management and administration of University Chambers including assisting in the management and development of barristers’ practices, managing a small staff and performing basic bookkeeping and financial tasks including issuing invoices, recording of expenses and administering pay runs.
The ideal applicant will have had experience working in barristers’ chambers or, at least, in the legal profession and who have either acted in the role of senior clerk or have the ambition to do so.
