Commencing on 14 February 2025 is Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festival, which is celebrating 47 years in 2025. The festival, which runs until 2 March 2025, celebrates and provides a voice for members of the LGBTQIA+ communities, families, friends, and supporters from across the globe. The iconic centrepiece of the festival, the Sydney Mardi Gras Parade, will be held on Saturday 1 March. The theme for this year’s festival is “Free to Be” highlighting the need to strive towards true LGBTQIA+ equality.
The Bar Association is committed to promoting, celebrating, and supporting its inclusive and diverse Bar which endeavours to reflect the full spectrum of Australia’s society, including people from LGBTQIA+ communities. The Association’s LGBTQI Principles on Inclusiveness have been developed for the benefit of members and their Chambers/Floors.
