24/03/2023

The Bar Council will audit all barristers CPD compliance as part of practising certificate renewals for 2023/24. All barristers will fill out the CPD Record Form which will be replicated in the online renewal system, auditing CPD activities for the 2022/23 CPD year, which ends on 31 March 2023.
Barristers should familiarise themselves with the Legal Profession Uniform Continuing Professional Development (Barristers) Rules 2015. These include, with some exceptions, a requirement to obtain 10 points in the CPD year from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023 with at least 1 point in each of the four categories:
- Ethics and Professional Responsibility;
- Practice Management and Business Skills;
- Substantive Law, Practice and Procedure, and Evidence; and
- Barristers’ Skills.

If you do not have all your points there is still time, you have until 31 March 2023.
CPD online can assist. Many Bar Association seminars are available online through CPD streaming and past seminars can be viewed 24/7. If the seminar was accompanied by a paper, that can also be downloaded from CPD online. Please note login is required. If you have misplaced your login and password details you are able to reset your details by clicking on ‘sign in' which appears in the top right-hand corner of the screen on our homepage. You then click on 'unknown password or username' and fill in the required fields. This will trigger an email to be sent to you with your new details. The email will be sent to the registered email address on our records.
For a calendar of upcoming seminars, visit the CPD Calendar.
Barristers are required to maintain a record of engagement in CPD activities for the CPD year using this form and must retain that record for at least three years after the CPD year. Please note that any seminars viewed from online streaming will be automatically noted on your record in the online renewals audit. The online renewal audit will allow other CPD activities to be manually entered.
