Edward Alton Mawdsley Nash (Bill), former Judge of the District Court of NSW passed away Monday, 3 April 2023.

Bill attended North Sydney Boys High and then the University of Sydney Law School. He commenced working as a solicitor in Bourke where he had a very varied practice and diverse clientele and was highly respected by the whole community. After he was called to the Bar, he practiced in equity, criminal law, and personal injury.

Among his many accomplishments, Bill Nash served as a District Court Judge from 1983 until his retirement in 1997. Thereafter, he worked as an acting Judge often travelling to the western districts of the state.

He will be fondly remembered for his compassion, generosity and good humour by his colleagues. He loved and was dearly loved by his family. He was respected by the community he served. He was a fine sportsman and greatly enjoyed the Bench and Bar and Servicemen golf days.
