Diversity

The 21st of May is the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, also known as, Diversity Day. The purpose of the day is to highlight the richness of world culture and the role of cultural diversity in development, economic growth, and peace.

The United Nations General Assembly first declared this World Day in 2002, following the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation’s (UNESCO) adoption of the 2001 Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity (UDCD). The UDCD aims to improve the recognition of cultural diversity, the awareness of the unity of humankind, and the development of intercultural exchanges.

The New South Wales Bar Association is committed to fostering fairness, equity and tolerance in a manner that reflects the social and cultural diversity within the legal profession and the communities we serve.
