Harmony Week and International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
17/03/2025

Diversity
Harmony Week is an annual celebration of Australia’s cultural diversity. This year Harmony Week will be held from 17 to 23 March. This includes the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) on 21 March. Harmony Week is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, from the Traditional Owners of the land to our most recent arrivals.
The colour orange was chosen to represent Harmony Week, as it traditionally signifies social communication and meaningful conversations, and relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. Australians can choose to wear something orange during Harmony Week to show support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia.
