Practice support - reminder to keep your software up-to-date

The Bar Association's Innovation and Technology Committee respectfully reminds members of the need to keep their operating systems and applications programs up-to-date. This is because of members' professional obligations to maintain confidentiality of client information and the integrity of their own practice records. Using software which is known to be vulnerable is an impediment to meeting these obligations.

If you are still using Microsoft Windows 7, support (including security updates) ceased on 14 January 2020. Therefore, you should upgrade to Microsoft Windows 10.

If you are using Microsoft Windows 10, a very serious vulnerability (which also affects Windows 7) was notified and an emergency update alert was issued on 14 January. You should ensure that your copy of Windows 10 is updated without delay.

If you need assistance, please contact your clerk or chambers IT administrator. Clerks will also need to ensure that servers used in chambers are updated.
