NSW Bar Association appoints Director, Projects and Practice Development

The NSW Bar Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Suanne Colley to the role of Director, Projects and Practice Development. Suanne will work with the Executive Director, as a member of the Executive team of the Association.

As part of the current Strategic Plan, the Association is committed to a range of initiatives in the marketing, communication and branding areas for our members including helping members grow their practices, addressing key strategic questions and issues in our changing markets, optimizing the way in which the Bar as a whole is perceived and examining opportunities to expand the role of the Bar locally and overseas – to name a few.

After an extensive search, Suanne was appointed and brings to the role comprehensive experience in strategic brand and marketing of complex, business to business services in Australia and in Asia. She has a BA (Asian Studies) ANU and a Master of Commerce (Marketing) UNSW. She has been a leader in the development of marketing of professional services in Australia and in Asia.

In the legal services arena, she advised Freehills (now HSF) for over seven years and was the regional head of marketing in Asia for each of Norton Rose (now Norton Rose Fulbright) and Skadden Arps. For over ten years she lived and worked in Asia, firstly based in Japan and then in Hong Kong, covering the region.

She was also previously the global head of client service and corporate relations for the Macquarie Bank group and advised Worley on the marketing elements of a range of strategic activities including its listing, its merger with Parsons e+c and its global environmental platform EcoNomicsTM.

Suanne is a member of the Foundation of the Centenary Institute of Medical Research and is a former Director of NIDA.
