Biography of Justice Robert Hope - Book Launch

Commissioned by three Prime Ministers to conduct major inquiries into Australia’s intelligence agencies, including two Royal Commissions, Robert Marsden Hope, a senior appellate judge of the NSW Supreme Court, fundamentally reshaped their structures, legislation and operational doctrines, to ensure they were both effective and accountable.
Peter Edwards’s landmark biography contains insights, highly relevant to current issues, on the balance between civil liberties and national security, on environmental policies, on the appointment of judges as Royal Commissioners, and on the appointment and non-appointment of High Court and Supreme Court judges.
