04/03/2020

Continuing Professional Development - Wednesday 18 March (Registration Required)

The tutor and reader relationship is an important and formative institution for successful practice at an independent bar. All members are invited to attend a seminar on Wednesday 18 March at 5.15 pm where Robert Hollo SC, Neil Williams SC and Katherine Hooper will present a brief review of the Reader/Tutor Guidelines which provides information and assistance on several aspects of the relationship and which are intended to promote the objectives of the Reading Program. The pre-requisites for being a potential tutor are set out in the Bar Association's Tutor Policy. When a member takes on the role of tutor it is a requirement that they attend a compulsory CPD seminar relating to the Tutor & Reader Guidelines.

In February 2020 Bar Council reintroduced a condition of eligibility for tutors to attend a mandatory CPD session within the previous 5 years. Attendance at this session will satisfy that condition of eligibility. Members who have recently become tutors or considering becoming tutors are also encouraged to attend.
