Local Court of NSW - Weekday Bail Division
07/07/2025

The Chief Magistrate of the Local Court of NSW, His Honour Judge Michael Allen, has established a new Bail Division to centralise weekday adult bail matters across New South Wales. Commencing today (7 July 2025), the Bail Division will manage the following types of bail matters:
Police Bail Refused
Executed Arrest Warrants
Detention Applications
This change will initially apply to adult bail matters in regional NSW, Gosford, Wyong, Waverley, and Newtown.
All relevant matters will be heard virtually, with all participants appearing by Audio Visual Link (AVL). The Bail Division will operate up to seven (7) virtual courts, grouped by region. Matters will generally be heard in order of readiness, though they may be reassigned on the day to another courtroom at the discretion of the presiding Magistrate to ensure efficient case progression.
