Invitation to Participate in Dignified Access Review at Parramatta Court House

10/07/2025

The NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), in partnership with the Australian Disability Network, will be conducting a Dignified Access Review at Parramatta Court House (12 George Street, Parramatta NSW 2150) on Tuesday, 15 July 2025.

This review is part of DCJ’s broader commitment to improving accessibility and inclusion across our justice infrastructure. Unlike a standard accessibility audit, the Dignified Access Review takes a holistic approach - examining not only physical access but also wayfinding, environmental design, and the overall experience of court users, including those with invisible disabilities.

The purpose of this review is to identify barriers that may prevent people with disability from accessing court services in a safe, equitable, and dignified manner. It will also help inform future design standards and policy development for other courthouses across NSW.

To support this initiative, the DCJ invites members of the NSW Bar Association to complete a short survey designed to capture the lived experiences of court users. Your feedback will help the DCJ understand the practical challenges faced by legal professionals, clients, and the public when navigating court environments.

You can access the survey by clicking the following link.

The survey closes 20 July 2025 and can be shared with your networks and colleagues. Your insights are vital to shaping a justice system that is inclusive and accessible to all.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss the review further, please contact DCJ Inclusion and Diversity team at: inclusionanddiversity@dcj.nsw.gov.au.
