2025 Sybil Morrison Lecture

22/07/2025

Thursday, 14 August - In person - 5-7pm

The Diversity and Equality Committee (DEC) is pleased to invite you to the 2025 Sybil Morrison Lecture. The lecture will be held on Thursday, 14 August 2025 in the Bar Association Common Room, with arrivals from 4:45pm for a 5:00pm start.

The Sybil Morrison Lecture is a DEC initiative that celebrates the achievements of women who have joined the Bar. The inaugural lecture, held in 2019, focused on the life of Sybil Morrison, the first woman to practise at the New South Wales Bar.

The 2025 lecture will honour the life and achievements of Priscilla Flemming QC, her remarkable legal career, and her enduring legacy as the first woman at the private Bar to be appointed Queen’s Counsel in New South Wales. This year’s lecture will be chaired by Her Excellency the Hon Margaret Beazley AC KC, and presented by the 2024 recipients of the Katrina Dawson Award, Olivia Ronan and Bronte Winn.

Attendees will be invited to remain in the Common Room for light refreshments after the lecture.
