The 2025 Bathurst Lecture – Thursday, 16 October 2025 – 5:30pm

The Commercial Law Section will hold the 2025 Bathurst Lecture at 5.30pm on Thursday, 16 October 2025 in the Banco Court. The lecture will be delivered by the Hon. Fabian Gleeson SC, who has decades of experience as a commercial lawyer and was the senior puisne judge on the New South Wales Court of Appeal at the time of his retirement from the Court in May this year. He is now a mediator. Mr Gleeson SC will address the following topic: ‘The legal issues raised by cryptocurrencies, digital ‘assets’ and decentralised finance: how can commercial law adapt to new and emerging technologies.'
The Bathurst Lecture is named after the Hon T F Bathurst AC KC, former Chief Justice of New South Wales, and is held each year in the Banco Court on a topic of commercial law. This lecture will be held in person. Registration is not required.
