Arbitration law reform in the South Pacific

Daniel Meltz has been appointed by the Asian Development Bank to an international commercial arbitration law reform project in the South Pacific. The project involves advising on accession to the New York Convention, technical assistance on the drafting of international arbitration legislation and capacity building amongst the judiciary, government and the private sector. This month the International Arbitration Bill 2017 was tabled in the Fijian Parliament and further countries in the South Pacific region are expected to engage with the reform which is directed at attracting increased foreign direct investment.
