Judge Robert Toner SC passed away this morning. In response to the news, President Arthur Moses SC said: "Prior to his appointment to the District Court on 16 April 2007, Bob was one of the NSW Bar’s leading criminal trial advocates. Bob passionately believed that all members of the community facing criminal charges were entitled to proper legal representation and a fair trial. He contributed tirelessly to the work of the Bar, through his many years of service on Bar Council including as Secretary and Treasurer. Bob’s compassion, sense of fairness and wisdom will be missed."

Funeral details will be circulated to members of the NSW Bar as soon as they are known.
