At its meeting on 18 October 2019 the Professional Standards Council of New South Wales approved the Bar Association's fourth Professional Standards Scheme, intended to commence following gazettal on 1 July 2020.

The New South Wales Bar Association Professional Standards Scheme upholds the standards of local practising barristers and ensures that clients may draw upon a large and diverse pool of skilled advocates for representation and advice. It ensures that members of the association are insured appropriately, participate in continuing professional development and are subject to a complaints and disciplinary structure. Learn more here.
