Philip Clay SC passed away on Tuesday, 24th September 2024.

Philip commenced practice at the NSW Bar in 1992, first at the 6th and 7th Floor St James Hall Chambers, and in 2003 was a founding member of Martin Place Chambers. He took silk in 2011.

Philip contributed greatly to the practice of law. He was President of the NSW Environment and Planning Law Association from 2010-2012, and served as an Acting Commissioner of the Land and Environment Court of NSW from 2019-2022, until illness prevented him from continuing in the role.

Philip acted for the Bar on a pro bono basis on many occasions, and took on many EDO and community pro bono requests. He took in readers and mentored many younger members of the Bar.

Philip is survived by his wife Robyn and children Nicholas, Jessica and Lucie. He will be deeply missed by his family and his many friends and colleagues.
