Australian Lawyers for Human Rights invites members to join them for an expert panel discussion seeking to examine the case for a royal commission to investigate the practices of successive Australian Governments in relation to the mandatory and prolonged detention of asylum seekers.

Their highly esteemed panelists include Professor Gillian Triggs, president of the Australian Human Rights Commission, Mohammad Ali Baqiri, refugee advocate and former child asylum seeker who spent three years in immigration detention in Nauru; and Dr Peter Young, psychiatrist and former director of mental health services for International Health and Medical Services, a private contractor engaged by the Department of Immigration.
