The sixteenth consecutive Constitutional Law Conference and Dinner will be held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales on Friday, 17 February 2017. The event is organised by the Gilbert + Tobin Centre of Public Law with the support of the Australian Association of Constitutional Law.

The conference will focus on developments in the High Court and other Australian courts in 2016 and beyond. It will be addressed by leading practitioners, judges and academics.

The morning keynote speakers will review the key themes of constitutional law decisions in the High Court, Federal Court and State Courts in 2016, while Session 2 will give focused attention to specific High Court cases: Murphy v Electoral Commissioner; Cunningham v Commonwealth; and Re Culleton, Re Day.

The third session will feature a lively panel discussion on a fascinating crossover topic, Constitutional Law and Criminal Justice and the final session will offer fresh perspectives on referendums and constitutional change, 40 years on from the last time Australia voted ‘Yes’.

The conference will be followed by dinner at NSW Parliament House with the guest speaker being the Hon Catherine Holmes, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
