The Australian Academy of Law is holding a public event to mark the fortieth anniversary of the Part IVA of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936. Where has it succeeded, where has it failed, how has it evolved?

TIME: 5.00pm – 6.30pm
Mr Peter Walmsley, Deputy Chief Tax Counsel of the ATO and Chair of the General Avoidance Rule (GAAR) Panel, will provide an overview. The Hon Kevin Lindgren AM QC will chair.
The speakers will be the Hon AM Gleeson AC, former Chief Justice of Australia, the Hon Tony Pagone QC, formerly a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia, Professor Miranda Stewart and Ms Kristen Deards SC.
